More than 30 Irish companies are setting out on a four-day trade mission to Turkey, beginning today.

The Enterprise Ireland mission is being led by Minister of State Ged Nash and will visit Ankara and Istanbul.

The Turkish market is the 17th largest economy in the world and the 6th largest in Europe.

Trade between Ireland and Turkey is worth about €1.2 billion a year, according to the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, with 135 Irish-owned companies currently exporting to the market.

EI opened an office in Istanbul earlier this year.
